We help solve your most difficult design dilemmas.

Stumped on how to decorate a cramped studio? Or not sure how to incorporate pillows that aren’t too matchy-matchy? Simply post your dilemma on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #cb2sessions and we’ll select a few favorites to answer for you. This month we asked our senior merchandising manager April Head to tackle a few tough small space decorating questions using photos from recent catalogs to illustrate her answers.

@hungrydagobroad I love a palette of black, white, and grey. What’s a good way to make it look more organic rather than totally modern? I like my spaces to look natural and organic.
In order to put some life into a neutral palette and give it substance, add warm wood tones such as a mid-tone wood coffee table or side tables accented with metallics. Accessorize with a metal tray or include raw metal lighting in the room. All the warmth from these woods and metals will add depth to cool greys and blacks. In this shot, you’ll see we added texture to the space with a shag rug and throw pillows.

@thatlittlehouse How do you fit a living room, office space, play area, and dining area in a 400 sq ft space ? #cityliving
Small spaces are our specialty! We have lots of furniture that does double duty. Use a console table as a desk in a living space or use a small round dining table that could also double as a workspace. Also, our TPS filing cabinets are small and stylish and can be used as side tables for storage.

@alicja.kania I live in a studio. One of my walls is mirrored from ceiling to ceiling, and I can’t remove it. How can I not waste that valuable wall space?
If you’re stuck with a wall that you can’t nail into or attach anything to, your best bet is to get standing storage pieces. We offer a butler stand that can act as an extension of your closet. And our grid vertical storage tower can act as a chest of drawers for smaller items.

@jessauyeung I have a pink carpet and a grey sofa. What kind of pillows would go with that without being too matchy-matchy?
Mixing colors in a neutral and pastel palette can give you many different looks. You can make a bold contrast with some bright reds or yellows to create a cheerful look, or layer in a little navy to keep it neutral without being matchy-matchy.
